Volkswagen Group Ireland (“VGIE”) Cookie Policy

1. General information

Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited (“VGIE”) processes your personal data as a controller, in particular through cookies and similar technologies (as defined below) when you use this website.

The Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on our website and for what purposes, and what choices you have to manage your preferences.

We use technologies on our website that are intended to facilitate the use of the website and to improve the user-friendliness and to provide various functionalities (for more information, see sections 3 and 4). Such technologies include, for example, cookies, pixels and scripts (hereinafter "cookies").

Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored on your device and include data such as personal page settings (e.g. language, screen resolution) and login information. This data record is generated and sent to you by the web server with which you have established a connection via your browser.

2. Handling cookies

As a general rule, we only use necessary cookies to ensure that our website functions properly. In order to be able to use our website, the use of these cookies is necessary.

Most browsers are set by default to automatically accept all cookies. In addition to your rights as a data subject, you can object to the use of cookies at any time with effect for the future by setting your browser so that it does not accept cookies or only accepts certain cookies or notifies you when cookies are being sent. As a result, you may not be able to use our website.

Please note that your selection will only ever affect the browser you were using when you made the selection. If you use different browsers or devices, you may have to take note of the use of necessary cookies again. In certain circumstances, after updates, or if you delete cookies from your browser, the settings may be reset to the default settings so that we may ask you to take note of the necessary cookies again the next time you visit our website.

The following links will assist you in dealing with cookie browser settings. You can also use the "Help" function of your browser for more information:

If you change/set your browser settings or use certain software products that block cookies, we will observe these browser settings as well as the settings in the software products and will not send the blocked cookies. If you allow cookies in your browser settings, we will present you with a cookie banner on our website, through which you will take note of the setting of necessary cookies.

3. What cookies do we use?

In general, we use cookies of the following categories:

Necessary cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly.
a. Storage period

Cookies may be stored on your device for a longer period of time or temporarily.

So-called persistent cookies are stored on your device for a certain period of time until a specified expiry date of the cookie (or until you delete it beforehand). For example, language settings are stored so that you do not have to make them again for our website.

A so-called session cookie temporarily stores a session identifier while you are active on our website. This prevents you from having to select your vehicle model again when changing sides, for example. Session cookies lose their validity once your session has expired (e.g. when the browser is closed).

b. First Party Cookies/Third Party Cookies

A first-party cookie is a cookie that is set by us as a controller (which is supposed to have the same meaning as a responsible party in other jurisdictions) or by our processors (which is supposed to have the same meaning as an operator in other jurisdictions). Volkswagen Group Ireland (“VGIE”), which operates the website (see imprint), is responsible for data processing.

A third-party cookie is a cookie that is set by a third party. Third party cookies are not used on this site.

c. Cookies used on this website

Below you will find a summary of the cookies we use, which should inform you about the purpose and type of each cookie and how long it will be stored.
